About us
Hello, we are Claire & Daniel Bryers and we have been at The Black Horse Pub since 1st December 2018, when we took this ‘tired old nag’ and proudly restored him into the stunning ‘stallion’ we see today – a stylish and warm village country pub for everyone to enjoy.
Our aim is, (and always will be), to provide a relaxing, fun social pub and restaurant where our guests can ‘feel at home’ with a welcome drink and (if they choose), a quality home cooked meal in warm and friendly surroundings.
Our facilities:
We have 2 fully stocked bars, (one is also a Sports Bar featuring a LARGE TV screen to cover all major sporting events), a lounge and conservatory dining room overlooking our beautiful gardens, and weather permitting, we are able to serve our wide range of beers and drinks to you outside so you can fully enjoy the views and enchanting atmosphere.
Back in 2021, we erected a Canopy Covered Terrace, sheltering you from either adverse weather conditions or blistering sunshine! So, whatever the weather, we’ve got you covered!
All our delicious food is prepared and cooked to order on the premises using fresh local ingredients, and with varied seasonal menu choices catering for all diets, we hope you will make the most of our hospitality and want to return time and again!
As the Black Horse is a country pub, we are also pleased to welcome well behaved children and supervised dogs.
Our Tea Room is now a small Meeting Room – (UPDATE January 2024):
Sadly, with a huge tear in our eye, and due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to CLOSE our lovely adjoining tearoom.
However, the quaint building is ideal to hire for eg. a KID’S PARTY, or a BUSINESS or PRIVATE MEETING/ FUNCTION ROOM, comfortably seating up to 20 guests.

How to find us:
If you haven’t visited our pub before, you’ll easily find us in Main Street, Foxton – about 3 miles north of Market Harborough and a short walk on the tow path from the popular tourist attraction of Foxton Locks. If you are arriving by car, (sat nav. postcode: LE16 7RD) we have ample free car parking spaces at the back of the premises.
If you are enjoying a break on a narrowboat, then there are 48 hour visitor moorings either side of the Black Horse Bridge in Foxton, and we are just a 50 metres stroll up the hill.

Tues: Drinks Only: 5pm – 10pm
Wed, Thurs, Fri: 12 noon – 3pm (food: 12 noon – 2pm) and 5pm – 10pm (food: 5pm – 8.30pm)
Sat: 12noon – 10pm (food: 12noon – 3pm and 5pm – 8.30pm)
Sun: 12noon – 6pm (food: 12noon – 4pm)
Happy Hour
All new Happy Hours have changed for the better! Now a whole £1 cheaper per pint between Tuesdays and Saturdays 5pm until 7pm!

Meet ‘The Stable Hands’
Daniel
‘The Boss’ (but only because Claire and the team say he can be!)
Daniel is Landlord, ‘Head Chef’, and self-appointed ‘Chief Gin Taster’. He’s been described as a bit OCD about organisation, preparation, and can sometimes be described as ‘obsessed’ about achieving the highest standards. But Claire says he has been known to sometimes relax as well!
Claire
‘The Real Boss’ (but don’t tell Daniel!)
Claire is Landlady, the real manager behind the business, ‘filling in’ when and where required to ensure a smooth operation whether ‘front of house’, 'customer relations', 'back of house' or ‘bottle washing’, whenever (says Daniel), she can be found!
Ros
Ros is just 'Ros' - the perfect ‘senior’ (in every sense of the word!) bar maid; here proudly showcasing her assets in her new T Shirt - firm and a bit mad, but always the drinkers’ favourite!
Shaun
Shaun is Daniel's dependable 'right hand man' in the kitchen, a diligent worker who has become a much valued member of the team. But 'Boy', does he 'faff' when having his photo taken!!
Caroline
Caroline, a Foxton girl, joined the team in 2022 to work mostly in the bars, and has already made a great impression with her friendly manner, attention to detail and dry sense of humour. She makes a great cup of coffee, mostly 'cause she likes coffee! No dirt to dish on her yet, but it's early days!
Jackie
Jackie (aka Claire's Mum) - she claims she's the best 'VOLUNTEER' worker in the land - and I wouldn't argue with that! Thanks Mum - I couldn't cope without you and at least you keep the wage bill down!
Martha
Martha may be quiet, but don't be fooled! She's a great worker, never phased and is still our reigning 'pudding queen' (nobody makes them better!) - a real asset to our weekend team.
Maeve
Maeve - a definite 'superstar' in the making, consistently demonstrating her waitressing and customer service skills with super youthful energy (despite having to work with Ros!)
Emily
Emily - also highly valued weekend team member - sometimes quiet but with a cheeky sense of humour which delights us and the customers! She's very intelligent though sometimes beautifully gullible!
